After a long and amazing ministry adventure in Russia, the Mukendi family, in the late 2006 felt led to move on and go somewhere else. The Lord opened a door of opportunity early in 2008 for them to go to Toronto – Canada under the skilled worker visa program. July 19, 2009 they landed in Toronto!
After a year of transition and adjustment they started a Bible fellowship in their apartment with a Russian speaking family. Later on this transformed into Saturday Bible Study meeting at the house of a Russian speaking family from Kazakhstan. December 26, 2010, they had their first open meeting in a Condo party room for Christmas. After celebrating their Easter 2011 they rented this party room as their permanent location for Sunday service. June 2011 the church was officially registered and later in September the same year the church was given a charity status in Canada.
For the last 2 years they have struggled to get a church location, going from party room to a public library basement, then to an old Anglican Church building and lately had to conduct services in their apartment. They have also done a number of outreaches and revival meetings open to the general public when renting the library basement: “Chronic Life” with the team from Revival Victory World Outreach – Pastor Alan Paterson, Courageous movie, and revivals with Pastor Paul Jones, Pastor Anthony Gould, Pastor Marshal, and Pastor JB Sanchez. They all visited in Toronto and ministered to the people in the church.
This year started at the location where they planned more events for summer but unfortunately, the lease was terminated due to the fact that the Old church building had to be demolished to give place to a condo complex. This sounds familiar to the Mukendi family after 15 years of ministry in Russia they have seen this kind of situation before! But God showed his mercy and favor by opening a new door and granting them a place of worship! Praise God! Starting September 7, 2014, they start services at their new location.
They are excited and determined to reach out to more of the Russian speaking community in Toronto. According to official statistics, there are nearly 450 thousand Russian speaking people in Toronto area!
December 19, 2013 the Mukendi became citizens of Canada after meeting all the legal requirements in the country. Please keep them in your prayers, that The Lord will protect the family and for a breakthrough in revival, for more souls to be saved and added to the church, for the favor of God. May God bless and keep as you keep this family and their ministry in Toronto in your prayers!
